Creator Spotlight: Simji Blows Up Tiktok with her Custom Rug Creations

Crafting Success: How Custom Rug Creations Became a Social Media Sensation

Simji and her custom rug creations want to make your dreams come true.

Ever wanted to turn a pic of your favorite pet into a full on custom rug? Or maybe create a cool rug from one of your favorite vacation photos? Simji can make it happen.

But remember: this isn’t a rug that you buy at Walmart or Amazon – what we’re talking about are artisan rugs that have been custom made to your exact needs and aesthetics. Maybe the design is a picture of. your dog. Or you and your fiancee. Or your fave view.

Either way, it’s unique and one of a kind.

Then she shares them on social media, particularly Tiktok. And it has BLOWN UP!

Simji, who’s clearly great at her craft, has made the decision to market her work in a peculiar way. Like many artisans on social media, we get the privilege to watch the whole process from start to finish. Sure, there lots of cooks where we can see how  ingredients become a meal, or how cans of paint become a whole mural. But in this case, it’s how a gun-looking contraption can create a whimsical and superbly intricate rug.

All inspired by you and what you want.

Here’s her shop for whoever wants to cop one of her custom rugs!

The creator started gaining more traction on the app when she made rugs featuring South Park characters and turned it into a series. But what she did next was pure marketing genius tapping into an even greater potential for her profile.

Custom Rug Creations Going Viral

With how social media works, sometimes the best way to gain engagement is if you continuously interact with your followers. So when a follower commented in one of her videos to make a McDonald’s rug, that’s exactly what she did. Then another commenter said to trade the rug for a Big Mac. Crazy right?

Simji had nothing to lose, so she went to nearest Mickey D’s, rug in hand, and made the trade. This led her to start a whole series,  and landed her deals in cahoots with big brands like Subway, KFC, GameStop, and many more.

Check out how she made it happen here:

Lessons for Other Businesses

Here’s what Simji got right:

  1. Interaction – this is key when you’re doing any type of business. Maybe not to the point where “the customer’s always right” but listening is definitely key in maintaining a good image as a brand. Sometimes these people will give you the brightest ideas that will skyrocket your success. So listen, and comment, and record it!
  2. Be Up For Challenges – Stay open to whatever is happening on social media even if the idea might sound outlandish. Gen Z is changing the way the market consumes media and makes purchases. Think of these challenges as a way to connect to your potential market!

No, you don’t need to be selling cool rugs. Or jumping the barista at your nearest Starbucks. But you do have to keep an open mind to be in the content game, no matter who you are.

If you want to learn more about how to effectively use social media for your small business, here’s a guide we put up just for you!
